If you put switches on plugs in America, people will call electricians because "the plug dont work." Often without ever trying the switch.
I built my house 20yr ago. I put all the outlets in "upside down", that is, with the ground pin topmost. I think electrical codes recommend that now, I've seen it in some new construction elsewhere... But people still freak put when they're called on to plug something in here.
